Spine Rehabilitation

Physical Therapy at Duke Health Center Southpoint is dedicated to helping patients with spinal dysfunction to return to maximum function.
 
We provide individualized evaluation and treatment for the following patient populations:
  • Spinal injuries including trauma and MVA
  • Acute neck and low back sprain/strain
  • Post-operative Back Rehabilitation
  • Diagnoses including DDD, spinal stenosis, HNP
 
Treatment incorporates manual therapy techniques, modalities, exercise including core stabilization programs, and patient education with postural training and body mechanics.

Posture & Back School
Physical Therapy at Duke Health Center Southpoint values preventative back care with patient education and training.
 
We provide education regarding back care and lifestyle management. Each patient is instructed in proper body mechanics for the safe completion of ADLs.
 
Examples of back care education we may address:
  • Transfers and lifting in household activities
  • Sport-specific mechanics
  • Child-care activities
  • General computer workstation education
  • Work activities
  • Osteoporosis management
 
An integral component of Posture and Back Care includes an individualized core stabilization program.

Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy at Duke Health Center Southpoint is committed to serving patients with general orthopaedic injury.
 
We provide individualized evaluation and treatment for the following patient populations:
  • Joint pain of elbows, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles
  • Post-operative outpatient care including total joint replacements and arthroscopic surgeries
  • Soft tissue injuries involving sprains/strains including rotator cuff tendonitis, patellofemoral dysfunction, Achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis.
